Cylinders Letterpressed in Red

The up and coming boutique in Islington, Smug, is opening a pop up shop selling prints on the first floor. Opening on Saturday 29th October until next January, as well as having my usual prints, they'll be including my brand new Peaks print and, this is the best bit: a Cylinder print in red, made exclusively for Smug. So you can't get it anywhere else, not even from me!

Obviously there'll be masses of other artist's prints to rifle through too – the first place to start shopping for that date at the end of December.

Sir Peter Cook 75th Birthday

Great news! As an "international artist" I'm included in an exhibition put on to celebrate architect Sir Peter Cook's 75th Birthday. The exhibition opens on Wednesday 26th October 2011 in Space, 10 James St, in Brisbane, Australia. New print for Concrete Hermit launched at Pick Me Up

I'm pleased to announce that I'm now on Concrete Hermit's new website, Hermit Editions, and they're selling 360 Degrees of Cake and Cylinders. But even better, is that they've got me to do a brand new print for them. They're currently in the process of printing and producing a limited edition of 100 boxes, each containing five prints by a nice group of young illustrators: Evgenia Barninova, Matt Bromley aka NGUsucker, Thomas Boswell, Craig Scott and me!

The box will be launched at Pick Me Up, the contemporary art fair at Somerset House, 17-27 March. Pick Me Up should be good, last year had lots of exciting new work, particularly on the print side of things. This is what my print looks like:

3D Cloud

You can never really see the shape of a cloud because they're so far away, they almost look two dimensional. I wanted to see a cloud in 3D... somehow.

I took two photos of the same cloud, at the same time, from two cameras about 30 metres apart (on my own!). If you're feeling really ambitious try sitting back from your screen and crossing your eyes at this image to get the sort-of still 3D image, and a headache probably.

Three Seconds Website

Last month I worked for a lovely group of people called Knifedge. They're more involved in the digital and video side of things than I'm used to but I had a good time. In just two days I had to design a website (just the design, not the coding) for one of their book publisher clients to promote a new Swedish crime thriller called Three Seconds.

I designed a logo for my friend Amber. She's got a nice new website for her range of products under the name of BAM textile design, or just BAM. And she's already applied the logo to a few other things too.

Poundshop

This Saturday is the opening of the pop-up Poundshop (49 Roman Road, Bethnal Green, E2 0HU). They'll be selling loads of lovely things made by more than 50 artisty designery people for the super duper low price of £1.

Copies of my 360 Degrees of Cake print will be on sale, which I redesigned from the original specially for the shop.

Opening event:

Then open for 8 more days:

Sunday 19th – Sunday 26th September, 12–7pm

Blue Energy Stationary

Here's some stationary for a new renewable energy company that I helped design the branding for at Inventory Studio. I popped into their studio the other day – they've got lots of interesting stuff going on including a pop-up shop for Puma in the form of a bespoke fitted truck.

My friends David and Eleanor are getting married today. It's going to be an amazing wedding in central London, and I got to design the invite for them. Many thanks to the very helpful Paw Print (foil blocking) and GB Litho (litho printing).

Here's a print I did for my friend Liz's birthday (she sells cool things in a shop). I painted a thick layer of white gouache onto the brown paper, and then ran it through my inkjet to do the colour and text. I'll be selling an alternative version of this at the Poundshop event next month, so look out for it!
